Massachusetts COVID-19 Emergency Paid Sick Leave Ending March 15, 2022

Massachusetts has recently notified employers that the COVID-19 Emergency Paid Sick Leave will end on March 15, 2022

Massachusetts has recently notified employers that the COVID-19 Emergency Paid Sick Leave will end on March 15, 2022. COVID-19 Emergency Sick Leave law went into effect May 2021 and requires employers to provide up to 40 hours of paid sick leave to employees for COVID-19 related absences. This COVID-19 Emergency Paid Sick Leave is in addition to any other sick leave available by policy or law but applies to COVID-19 related sick leave. This law allows for an employer to seek reimbursement from the state. The details on the COVID-19 Emergency Paid Sick Leave may be found in my newsletter from June 2021 (a copy of the post can be found at this link - /blog/one-more-covid-19-law-for-ma-employers-covid-19-paid-sick-leave)

Massachusetts employers should continue to offer this Emergency Paid Sick Leave if it is due to COVID-19 related reasons until March 15, 2022. Employer\'s may seek reimbursement from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for any such leave an employer paid between May 28, 2021 and March 15, 2022.
